PASTOR JAY CAVE
(currently on extended sabbatical)
Pastor Jay was born in South Carolina and has also lived in Georgia, North Carolina, France, Tennessee, and Kentucky before he and his lovely wife Mona made South Saint Petersburg their home. They recently celebrated their 20 year wedding anniversary and have proudly served at Bay Point Christian Church and its community for 14 years this July.
Jay (Julian Attaway-Cave III) comes from a long line of preachers. His father, Julian Jr., and his grandfather, Julian Sr., were both Baptist ministers for many years. Besides his father and grandfather, there are many other preachers and Christian educators in his family. Despite the fact that Jay was baptized as a young boy, he dates his genuine conversion to being a true believer when he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 27.
Besides being a full-time pastor, Jay has worked as a writer, a house painter, a sketch artist, and an actor. He attended The Citadel on a full football scholarship and received his Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School. Currently, Pastor Jay is working on his Doctorate of Ministry from the Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Orlando, Florida. Pastor Jay and his wife Mona extend their warmest greetings to you and your family and invite you to be a part of what God is doing at Bay Point Christian Church.
Traipsing around Taiwan
That's right! Our very own Pastor Jay is on the other side of the PLANET!
For the next two years (until 2018), Pastor Jay Cave and his devoted wife, Mona, are submitting to the will of the Lord and teaching English wayyyy over in Taiwan. Yes, Taiwan! We love our Pastor Jay here at Bay Point, and found the prospect of two years without him difficult to accept...but he loves us right back, and possesses a strong desire to maintain his relationship with Bay Point. (Besides, he left us in great hands with Pastor Randall!)
If you would like to check in on Pastor Jay's latest adventures in Taiwan, he regularly posts photos and short videos publicly on his Facebook page:
There are also plans in the works for preparing a quarterly address to the congregation, and perhaps even a full-on blog dedicated to this brave couple's amazing Taiwanese enterprise.
We love you, we miss you, and we pray for blessings over your grand journey!
Godspeed, Pastor Jay.
